About

Hello and Welcome! My name is Suzanne. I'm a online marketing professional who lives in Richmond, VA. I started this blog as part of my 2018 New Year's resolution to continue on my path to a debt-free life.

While 2017 was a success, I felt that I could do better in managing my finances in 2018. Thus, I started my research both online and in the library to see if there were resources that could help me accomplish my goals.

The one thing I did note is that the top personal financial blogs and websites were written in the point of view of a married couple in various stages of their lives, but rarely could I find a site that was catered to my own demographic: a single career-oriented professional in her 30's. So, I decided to start one and invite you to join me on my five-year quest to explore financial opportunities.

While, I'd rather 'seek out new life and new civilizations', being able to pay off my mortgage by the time that I am forty would be my ultimate dream of Freedom. And yes, there are nights in which I play the George Michael song and dance around my house imagining writing that last check to the bank.

To be frank, I'm one of those rare individuals who has never been in "debt" - at least not the way that most people measure their debts. From a young age, I was always taught to save my money and never buy what I could not afford. Holding true to those values has made me financially successful throughout my life.

I do have a credit card (Thanks Amazon) and I use it daily to gain reward credits to reuse on Amazon.com. Since I am a prime member, using the card gets me 5% back and allows me to bargain hunt online. It's one of the arguments that I have against following Dave Ramsey's rules to the letter. How in the universe can you buy anything online without a credit card? Even on his own site, Dave Ramsey.com, you are not able to purchase one of his books with cash. Unless I've lived under a rock, I've never seen a money slot to send to a website. Therefore, that rule should and can be ignored.
